Contraindications for vaccination against COVID-19

In light of the preparations for the vaccination campaign, China's leading epidemiologist Zhong Nanshan praised the product developed by the National Research Center for Epidemiology and Microbiology named after N.F. Gamalea vaccine against COVID-19 and congratulated Russia on the completion of the state registration procedure for the drug.

In turn, the doctor of medical sciences, immunologist Vladislav Zhemchugov said on the air of Sputnik radio that the contraindications for vaccination against COVID-19 do not differ from those that exist for other medicines.

“You definitely shouldn't drink strong alcohol before vaccination. However, weak too. The vaccine can react to alcohol in such a way that the person will not be well. I think that 10-12 hours or even a day before vaccination one should not drink. Time depends on how the liver works in a person, ”said Zhemchugov.

The immunologist also noted that in no case should the coronavirus vaccine be given to sick people with a body temperature exceeding 37 ° C.

According to him, a disposable syringe should be used for the injection, and a doctor, not a nurse, should administer the vaccine.

“You have to ask the expiration date of the vaccine, you have to look at the temperature in the refrigerator where it is stored. In the refrigerator, it should not be higher than plus four degrees. You also need to pay attention to whether the doctor is wearing gloves, to check if he is using a disposable syringe, ”he added.

Earlier, Russian Health Minister Mikhail Murashko said that vaccination of citizens of the country against COVID-19 should begin in October. It is reported that it will be voluntary.

Recall that on August 11, Vladimir Putin announced the registration in Russia of the world's first vaccine against coronavirus. It was named Sputnik V after the first artificial satellite of the Earth. The Ministry of Health noted that this solution for intramuscular administration allows the formation of immunity for up to two years. On August 15, it became known that the first batch of the vaccine had been produced. According to the decree of Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin, Sputnik V is included in the list of drugs, the distribution of which is regulated by the state.

A number of countries of the world have expressed their interest in the Russian drug. In particular, Mexican Foreign Minister Marcelo Ebrard, following a meeting with Russian Ambassador Viktor Coronelli, said that the country expects to take part in the third phase of clinical trials of the vaccine in order to receive it in Mexico as soon as possible. Earlier, Mexican President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador announced his readiness to acquire Sputnik V.
