For the second day in a row, the anger of Egyptians continued on social media, after the government's decision to reduce the weight of a loaf of bread, which represents an indirect increase in its price, to catch up with the price increase that has not stopped since the current President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi came to power.

The authority sought to justify this decision, according to Major General Abdel Naim Hamid, First Undersecretary of the Ministry of Supply, who said that reducing the weight of the loaf was done in order to increase competitiveness among the bakeries, stressing that it would serve the citizen because he would be offered a loaf of high quality bread.

Hamed added that this decision was based on requests from the bakery division and some bakery owners to reconsider the cost of bread production due to the high prices of diesel, gas and water in addition to the manpower, and the Ministry agreed to that.

The government's decision regarding the weight of the loaf coincided with another decision to raise the prices of Cairo subway tickets to between 5 and 12 pounds, noting that riding the metro cost the Egyptian citizen one pound seven years ago when Sisi led a military coup during his assumption of the Ministry of Defense that overthrew the elected President Mohamed Morsi.

According to commentators, it is usual for the actual weight of the loaf to be less than the official decision, which means that the loaf that the general Egyptians will be able to buy will not even reach the weight of 90 grams.

Today, Wednesday, the Egyptian Organization for Human Rights called on the Minister of Supply and Internal Trade to reverse the decision, noting in a statement that “loaf of bread is the main item in the food of Egyptians, especially the poor among them, who are the vast majority of citizens, so that prejudice to it represents an outright aggression. And directly on the most basic necessities of life for the majority of the people, where about 71 million citizens benefit from subsidized bread, with 22 million ration cards.

The deputy of the Parliament's Plan and Budget Committee, Yasser Omar, confirmed in statements at the end of last May that "there is no way to prejudice the subsidy of the bread bread or raise its price. The bread of bread is a red line, and no matter how much pressure there is no way to affect it."

Al-Sisi had affirmed when he took office that he would not raise prices until he "enriches the Egyptians," which did not happen, as the prices of most commodities doubled several times, while the salaries of Egyptian employees only increased slightly.

Instead of increasing the price of the loaf of bread, they reduced the weight of his line in the most intelligent way. #Purchasing statepic.twitter.com/Pu2aPrM1CM

It was natural that reducing the weight of the subsidized loaf in Egypt would be a new arena for interlocking between opponents of the current President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi and his supporters, as the first team pointed to a series of price hikes and failures during the Sisi era, while the supporters spoke about the limited impact of this step, especially in light of many achievements according to Describe them.

The interesting thing is that some supporters of the authority were keen to point out that the price of a loaf in Egypt is still cheap and tried to offer the price by looking at the US dollar (equal to about 16 pounds), while others responded by stating that the average family income in Egypt is less than 5,000 pounds, or about $ 315 only. .

Why reduce the size of the loaf of bread that benefits the ground citizen?
Why not reduce your other motorcade fleet of models?
Why not sell a presidential plane?
Why not sell one of the presidential palaces?
Why should not austerity be in the upper floors in Egypt instead of grinding the inhabitants of the basement? # Loaf_Life pic.twitter.com/nYXE7i2shh

# Loaf_live The
category that eats the loaf is the lowest income group and the poor because those with high incomes eat tourist bread
because you are smaller than the loaf. This is for people under the pretext of saving money to build projects three-quarters of the money that you pay in by going into the pockets of
sacred filth and dirt. This will end a nation, but oh # Sissy ⁉️

# Loaf_live A loaf of bread in Egypt costs 5 piasters
and the pound = 100 piasters
means 20 loaves for one pound, but the
dollar in Egypt is a factor of 15.88 pounds,
meaning in Egypt the dollar you buy 318 loaves of bread.
Hatley is a country in the world where 318 loaves of bread are sold for one dollar.

_ Of course
it is not useful, but it is still present, and it has the additions of those born in the coming period and will compensate it, God willing,
but this does not mean that the state that subsidizes the loaf of 60 piasters sold the deficit, and the development of the bread system and all of it remained automatic, and the control is much better because of the electronic cards,
God willing, the state will compensate it, and we all trust in Leadership.
