Three gendarmes were ambushed during the night of Monday to Tuesday in Roquefort-la-Bédoule near Marseille, reports the daily La Provence . Called for a brawl between two rival gangs, the soldiers found themselves facing twenty very aggressive individuals.
The gendarmes initially tried to rescue an injured person during the clashes. The twenty individuals present then attacked the soldiers directly, managing to extract the wounded while others were beating down on their vehicle. To get by, the three gendarmes had to use tear gas before calling for reinforcements. One of them was slightly injured during the operation.
Man arrested with shotgun and knife
Immediately after their departure, shots were fired near the place of the brawl. The daily specifies that a man armed with a pump shotgun and a knife was arrested, as was a second individual. An investigation has been opened to shed light on this affair.
