PSG accomplished an "exceptional course" by qualifying for the Champions League final on Tuesday, Zinédine Zidane told AFP on Wednesday, deeming the performances of Paris and Lyon "top for French clubs" and likely to improve the image of Ligue 1.

Triple winner of the C1 on the bench of Real Madrid (2016-2018), the French football icon did not rule out that Neymar, Kylian Mbappé and others could finally win the Grail on Sunday in the final.

"In any case, they are in the final, it is already an exceptional course", estimated Zidane in this interview with AFP granted in Aix-en-Provence on the sidelines of the presentation of a sports and educational program called "Zidane Five Club".

"This is the first time that they are in the final of the Champions League, Lyon is in the semifinals. It's great for the French clubs", rejoiced the Ballon d'Or 1998.

"We talk a lot about Ligue 1 (in bad, Editor's note). I say that Ligue 1 is a good League, a complicated, difficult championship, and there to see the French teams doing in the Champions League, it's good ", he estimated.

Returning to his own elimination in the eighth with Real against Manchester City (2-1, 2-1), Zidane still drew a positive assessment of this very special season, long paralyzed by the Covid-19 pandemic.

"Finally, to have taken over this Liga, to have finished it and to have won it, for me it was my best day. Practically the best day of my life", savored the Marseille technician, winner of his second Spanish title as a coach after that of 2017.

"Even if we always want to say that the Champions League, yes, it's great, it's wonderful, I don't want to compare, but when we won this Liga, complicated, very difficult, it "was really the most day of my professional life. It's very difficult to win," he concluded.
