According to the terms of the agreement, the other candidates will support the one who will be in the second round of the presidential election. Nine declared candidates and 23 political parties, all from the opposition, have already signed this political agreement.
The twenty or so parties, including the heavyweights of the Burkinabè opposition, are uniting in the objective of preventing the current president from winning the presidential election next November.
Alternation in 2020?
" The parties to the agreement undertake to support that of the signatories of this agreement which would arrive in the second round of the 2020 presidential election, " said Adama Sosso, vice-president of the Union for Progress and Change. The parties to the agreement undertake to pool their forces, their equipment and their finances in support of that of theirs who arrived in the second round of the 2020 presidential election. "
The signatory parties are aiming for political alternation in Burkina Faso following the coupled, presidential and legislative elections of November 2020. “ We need alternation, points out Eddie Komboigo, president of the Congress for Democracy and Progress (CDP ). The Burkinabè people have suffered so much. Party presidents, like candidates, we have no other choice to give hope to our people than to unite. "
The management of state power after the elections will be in the interest of the general interest and following a common government program according to the signatories of this political agreement of the opposition.
