A 30-year-old Belgian mountaineer died after a fall on Wednesday in the Mont-Blanc massif, we learned from the emergency services.

The man fell into a crevasse after unscrewing around 8 a.m. this Wednesday morning at the Aiguille de la Bérangère, said the PGHM (High mountain gendarmerie platoon) of Chamonix.

Two victims during the day

Rescuers transported him to the DZ des Bois rescue base in Chamonix where his body was taken care of by the funeral directors, says the PGHM. A 50-year-old man, victim of cardio-respiratory arrest in the Chamade ridge, also died late Wednesday morning, according to rescuers.
