As noted, such information appeared in a number of media outlets, and its authors claim that for the installation of "non-standard equipment", in particular towbars, external lighting devices and additional luggage racks, including on the roof, "vehicle owners will be brought to administrative responsibility." ...

"The information presented in the media does not correspond to reality," the traffic police said in a statement.

As specified, the authors of the publication referred to the fact that, according to the new amendments to the Technical Regulations, all additional equipment for cars must be coordinated with the State Traffic Inspectorate.

However, according to the traffic police, the last amendments to this were made in 2018, and they did not concern changes in the design of cars.

"According to the current provisions of the Technical Regulations, if the trunk is certified and the design of the vehicle assumes its use, then no coordination with the State Traffic Inspectorate is required," the department said.

In February, the Ministry of Internal Affairs announced that the number of fines issued by traffic police officers in 2019 increased compared to last year.

So, in total, fines were issued in the amount of 142.1 million rubles, which is 14 million rubles more than in 2018.
