The Special Tribunal for Lebanon: Three of the defendants are acquitted in the Hariri case

On Tuesday, the Special Tribunal for Lebanon condemned the Lebanese Hezbollah member, Salim Ayyash, in the 2005 assassination of former Lebanese Prime Minister Rafik Hariri after a six-year trial.

"The first instance chamber declares Ayyash unquestionably guilty as a participant in the premeditated murder of Rafik Hariri," said presiding judge David Ray.

This came in a session held by the Special Tribunal for Lebanon to pronounce the verdict in the case of four Hezbollah members being accused of planning the attack that killed Hariri and 21 others.

The court stated that there is no evidence that Syria or the leadership of "Hezbollah" was directly involved in his assassination 15 years ago.
