The Democratic convention continues on Tuesday, August 18. On the second day of the political meeting, Jill Biden, candidate Joe's wife, must speak, just like former US President Bill Clinton. But it is the speech of the progressive MP Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez which is the most anticipated, not necessarily for the right reasons.

The atmosphere is dull and the Democratic convention , which began on Monday, August 17, quickly becomes boring. The coronavirus epidemic has required that it be held in videoconference. Suddenly, each worker saw the duration of his intervention severely reduced.

For some, this borders on the ridiculous: the progressive MP and rising star of the Democrats, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez , will thus only be entitled to one minute of speaking time on August 18, the second day of the convention. Unsurprisingly, the left wing of the party protests, seeing this as an insult to her and the ideas she represents.

An easy target for the Republican camp ?

Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, she had fun with the situation on Twitter by posting a poem entitled "  I only have one minute  ". An outing which also caused a touching reunion with the teacher who taught him these poems in primary school. The latter did not fail to support him.

“I only have a minute.
Sixty seconds in it.
Forced upon me, I did not choose it,
But I know that I must use it.
Give account if I abuse it.
Suffer, if I lose it.

Only a tiny little minute,
But eternity is in it. ”

So why only a minute of speaking time? Perhaps the organizers fear that the MP, who does not mince her words, is an easy target of the Republican camp. Monday, August 17, a few hours before John Kasich, an anti-Trump Republican, spoke at the convention, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez did not fail to welcome his presence while denouncing the "  anti-abortion extremism  " of the former governor of Ohio. “  Let’s build bridges but don’t lose the sense of our values,  ” she recalled.

In short, if the elected 30-year-old sticks, as the Washington Post announced , to one minute's defense of Senator Bernie Sanders, who was her candidate in the primary, it will certainly help those who set her speaking time.
