The Community of Madrid has requested the collaboration of the mayors of the 179 municipalities in the region and the Government delegate, José Manuel Franco, to deal with festive crowds, meetings in leisure parks and bottles, a high practice risk that has been prohibited since 2002 when the law on drug addiction and other addictive disorders came into force.

In the regional government, the meetings of young people to drink in the street are of particular concern, an increasingly widespread practice among youth due to the advance of the closure of nightlife due to the pandemic. In fact, the average age of those infected in Madrid has dropped from 54 to 34 years in recent weeks.

For all these reasons, the Minister of Justice, Interior and Victims, Enrique López, in a letter addressed to the councilors of all municipalities and to the Government delegate, has asked their involvement to "intensify" their work and thus stand up to the "Challenges" currently posed by this pandemic, such as the identification of asymptomatic patients - who in the region are close to 70% of the positive ones -, the protection of those affected and the prevention of the most vulnerable.

For López, «the work at street level of the city councils is key; his pedagogical work with young people on their vulnerability and transmission capacity is fundamental ” . "This work, together with the necessary administrative control of certain practices, and coordination with other administrations will allow us to achieve a solution to the pandemic sooner rather than later", says the counselor.

López has transferred to the councilors of these municipalities the commitment of the regional government, through the Madrid 112 Emergency and Security Agency, where the Fire Department, the Forest agents, the Civil Protection Coordination and Local Police, the Institute of Comprehensive Safety and Emergency Training (Ifise) and the Madrid 112 Coordination Center, to "work in this phase of the pandemic with the same effort and dedication as in the most critical moments."

Likewise, López has asked the Government delegate in Madrid for his support to face the bottle and the rest of the measures to stop the Covid-19 promoted by the Ministry of Health. The counselor has insisted on the "need to reinforce the strength" of the National Police and Civil Guard in support of local police forces and on "direct intervention in those municipalities that lack a local police force . " López transferred to the delegate "the importance of having a greater police presence in rural municipalities, which in this summer season receive a large number of people who go to their second homes or visit them to enjoy these areas."
