17 August 2020Flexibility and work from home: the experiment during the lockdown works and so the British asset management company Schroders, one of the largest in the sector and an institution in the London financial world, decides to make it a permanent 'policy', marking a turning into the City.

In fact, according to British media reports, in a circular the company has communicated to its more than 5,000 employees around the world that they will no longer be required to go to the office for a certain number of hours a week. He called it a "new approach to flexible working", effectively allowing employees to work from wherever they want, for the hours and days stipulated in their contract, whereas before the pandemic they were required to go to the office at least four days a week.

A spokesperson for the company, who confirmed the news, however, clarified that the new rules on flexibility, which now become "the norm and not the exception" do not translate into 'work from home tout-court', nor do they recognize all 'entire staff the right to work from home permanently: for some employees in fact, he remarked, "interaction with colleagues, teamwork and meeting customers" is very important. The news, however, can only fuel the debate already underway on the future of 'office life'.
