Olympique Lyonnais announced Monday that its American subsidiary OL Reign had recruited the American international Rose Lavelle from Washington Spirit where she had played since 2017 in the NWSL, the American Women's Football League.

Lavelle, who joins the American star Megan Rapinoe in this team, was named Bronze Ball of the last Women's World Cup in 2019 in France (six matches, three goals including one in the final).

She has been playing for the USA team since 2017 (45 caps, twelve goals).

"Our project with OL Reign is ambitious, which requires taking strategic risks to achieve our goals," said O coach Reign Farid Benstiti (53), former professional OL player (1984- 1989) and former OL women's coach (2004-2010).

“We all know Rose is a special player so for me this is an opportunity we had to take. I sincerely hope we have the chance to work with Rose in the future and I am excited about the idea of supporting her as she strives to achieve her destiny as one of the best players in the world, "he continued in a statement on the OL Reign website, relayed on Twitter by OL.

Olympique Lyonnais took control of FC Reign in January 2020, acquiring 89.5% of the shares for € 3.1 million. Former basketball player Tony Parker, OL administrator, also owns 3%. The remaining 7.5% remains the property of Bill Predmore who runs the club.
