The Scientific Police of the Ertzaintza analyzes the first bone remains found in the Zaldibar landfill since two workers were buried by a landslide on February 6. The search work carried out daily since the day after the catastrophe has made it possible to locate a bone remains together with clothing that could allow the location of Joaquín Beltrán or Alberto Solaluze . Solaluze was in charge of the scale of the landfill and, according to the first indications, the remains found would be located in an area near this facility.

The Ertzaintza has only confirmed the discovery of the skeletal remains but analyzes them in detail before making a public pronouncement on whether they correspond to any of the two workers buried on February 6. The body search device is located in the last part of the detachment that had not yet been screened in the so-called B1 zone, which corresponds to the environment in which the scale of the landfill was supposed to be. The area of the discovery has been cordoned off and the Deputy Minister of Security Josu Zubiaga will appear from 8.15 pm to provide more information.

Alberto Solaluze was in the landfill on the afternoon of February 6, while Joaquín Beltrán worked in the highest area of the facility since he was in charge of carrying out the deposit of industrial waste that this facility had stored since 2012. Beltrán, according to eyewitnesses, tried to warn Solaluze that the detachment had started but it also ended up being dragged by the thousands of tons of waste that rolled down the hill to block the highway that connects Bilbao with San Sebastián.

The Investigative Court number 1 of Durango decreed on July 23 provisional release with precautionary measures for the three people in charge of the company that owns the landfill, who remain under investigation and must appear before the judicial authority once a month. They are the owner of the dump and the company that manages it Verter Recycling, José Ignacio Barinaga ; the sole administrator, legally responsible for it and Barinaga's niece, Arrate Bilbao , and the engineer and technical director of the landfill, Juan Etxebarria , who were arrested two days earlier by the Ertzaintz
