Last holiday weekend and warm weather, closer to 30 degrees. Then there are many who take what may be the last chance this summer to sunbathe and swim. But there are divided opinions about what is too close and what is not.
- I think it was well managed. It's a bit by the beach as it's a bit tight between the people, you lie down a little too close, but otherwise I think it works well, says Carina Karlsson, who went from Karlstad with her family to swim.
Police on siteBut not everyone shares the view that everything was fine in terms of distances. Both on Saturday and Sunday, the police were on site at the bath in Varamon in Motala to, among other things, urge people to keep their distance.
- People are extremely close to the beach, and we have urged people to keep their distance, but it is not simply because the beach is limited, says Monica Bergström, spokesperson for the police.
Motala municipality out and informedOfficials and politicians from Motala municipality were also out on Saturday to urge people to keep the right distance on the beach. They brought information sheets and rulers to easily show how much the recommended two meters is. But according to Jimmy Szigeti, btr municipal director, the sunbathing guests took good care of it all.
- We went with a group from one end of the beach and the other group from the other end and I think it looked good. We chose to go out because the Saturday before was not so good, he says and adds that he thinks the parking situation has improved.
- We have arranged a temporary parking space on a lawn at Bispgatan which I think was very good.
Satisfied sunbathersOn Sunday, not as many people visited the beach and therefore it was easier to keep your distance and just enjoy the nice weather and the opportunity to cool off in the fresh Lake Vättern.
- I think people behave as well as they really can, but it's not very easy when there are so many people, and they have to come down and swim, says Sven-Gunnar Carlberg from Motala.
- We are all human beings and we all have an understanding of this with corona, Elvedina Lucicanin from Linköping.
