France will resume issuing visas to the Lebanese "in solidarity" after the devastating explosion of August 4 in Beirut, while this service was so far suspended due to the health crisis in the country, according to a statement from the French ministry Foreign Affairs.

“Following the explosions that occurred in the port of Beirut on August 4, 2020, France decided to resume on an exceptional basis the processing and issuance of visas for the benefit of Lebanese nationals residing in Lebanon, without any restriction other than the usual conditions of 'admission to stay, and re-authorize their entry into its territory, ”the ministry announced on Sunday.

"In the strictest respect of sanitary requirements"

"This gesture of solidarity with the Lebanese people is carried out in the strictest respect for health requirements" linked to the Covid-19 pandemic, underlines the ministry, specifying that "people of eleven years or more coming from Lebanon , country of active circulation of the virus, will have to undergo a PCR test on their arrival in France ”. If they test positive, people will have to self-isolate for two weeks.

According to a latest official report published on Saturday, a new daily record of coronavirus contamination was recorded in Lebanon: 397 cases. In total, the country has recorded 8,442 cases, including 97 deaths, since February.

The Covid-19 pandemic was initially brought under control, but cases started to rise again after the reopening of Beirut international airport on July 1 and the gradual lifting of containment measures.
