The Minister of Justice Eric Dupond-Moretti claims to be a "passionate" hunter and attacks the "ayatollahs of ecology" in the preface to a book by the president of the National Federation of Hunters to be published Tuesday.
"This book, the ayatollahs of ecology will use it to light the barbecue where they will cook their soybean steaks", writes the ex-lawyer in the preface of "A hunter in the countryside", of Willy Schraen. Eric Dupond-Moretti wrote this text, revealed on Sunday by the JDD , before he entered the government.

He qualifies defenders of the animal cause as "enlightened" and "fundamentalists", according to the extracts quoted by the newspaper. “They want us to be ashamed of being a hunter, (…) make us feel guilty for being what we are, because we are also our passion. And for too long we have refused to defend ourselves, no doubt convinced that intolerance and absurdity do not deserve a response, ”he wrote.
The former tenor of the bars explains that he is “not ashamed” when he “kills a partridge” and when he “delights in the flesh of the bird”. He salutes the book, a "little gem", made "for hunters to raise their heads". In this book, Willy Schraen poses as a defender of rurality and condemns “terrorists of the animal cause” and other “new green fighters”.
The Minister of Justice reacted on Twitter on Sunday to the many comments made by his preface. "We can be against the prohibition of a certain hunting and defender of the climate and nature, as I am and always have been," he wrote. “I have never blamed environmentalists but ecological ayatollahs. The former are for me very different from the latter, ”he explained.
