In the DRC, a new crime in Kongo Central raises questions. An elected provincial, Albert Nsimba, was assassinated in his residence in Matadi, yesterday Saturday. He was the first deputy of Atou Matubuena, the controversial governor of the province. Villainous crime or political assassination? For some deputies, like Jean-Claude Vuemba, no doubt, it is a political crime.

They did not have military uniforms, but were dressed in FARDC polo shirts, explains Jean-Claude Vuemba. According to this provincial deputy of Kongo Central, after having sawn the anti-theft bars, the criminals entered the house.

Awakened by the noises, Albert Nsimba came out, an iron bar in his hand ... Two bullets hit him. The first to the collarbone, the second to the head. The attackers left and then returned five minutes later to search the house. They recovered the victim's phones, continues MP Jean-Claude Vuemba. They left a weapon and a magazine on the spot, says the secretary general of the provincial government of Kongo Central, who says that the investigations have already enabled three suspects to be arrested.

According to sources in Matadi, in the days preceding the attack on his residence, the PPRD deputy Albert Nsimba would have received threats because of his connections with the governor Atou Matubuana, of whom he was the first substitute in the provincial assembly. A month ago, another PPRD deputy from Kongo Central province was assaulted at his home. But the latter had escaped.

This assassination comes at a time when a political dialogue is being prepared to improve the political situation in Kongo Central.
