China News Service, August 16 According to the Greek "China Greek Times" report, on August 15, local time, a plastic recycling plant in the Metamorfosi district of northern Athens, Greece exploded, causing a fire to envelope the entire building. As the burning material was plastic, the sky over Athens was covered by thick black smoke.

According to reports, the explosion occurred at around 7 am on the 15th. The plastic recycling plant was located on Solos Street near the Athens-Lamia National Highway.

The Greek fire department sent dozens of firefighters, multiple fire helicopters and fire trucks to participate in the fire fighting. Due to the huge heat generated by the explosion, firefighters cannot enter the factory, which means it takes a long time to fully control the fire.

No one was trapped inside the factory. Firefighters will further confirm this situation after entering the factory. The cause of the fire is unclear.

The Ministry of Civil Protection of Greece issued an emergency mobile phone alert to nearby residents regarding the explosion that occurred that day, informing nearby residents to close doors and windows and prohibit going out to avoid inhaling toxic gases.
