In the repair workshop shrouded by oil and gas, Zhang Junkai, a second-level sergeant chief of a regiment of the Shenyang Joint Logistics Support Center, flipped the head, drilled the bottom of the car, and used the wrench and screws. During the day, switch between kneeling, lying on your side and lying on your back.

In the evening of the same day, the faulty car restarted, and Zhang Junkai drove the car out of the repair shop, saying incessantly: "Complete the task! I am so happy today..."

For 23 years, Zhang Junkai has been guarding the cavalry galloping day after day.

Treating military vehicle repair as a lifetime business

Repairing military vehicles is not a "hot profession" in the army, and it may even be regarded as a "man with iron" because it is dirty and tired, but it is Zhang Junkai's choice.

Zhang Junkai grew up in Huanan County, Jiamusi City, Heilongjiang Province. As soon as he graduated from junior high school, Zhang Junkai joined the army because he had been driving farm vehicles and repairing tractors with his father since he was a child. He had the ability to drive and repair. The recruits were immediately assigned to driving positions.

In the year when Zhang Junkai became a driver, the driver in the accident did not take the signs of brake failure seriously because he did not know how to repair the car. In the end, Zhang Junkai's brother was hit by a car and died unfortunately. Zhang Junkai realized the importance of repairing a car for the first time, but what changed him completely was a defeat.

That was the first time that Zhang Junkai participated in the exercise as a co-pilot. He and his comrades rushed to the designated area to carry out a "battlefield blood transfusion" full of fuel as ordered. The vehicle "lays down" midway. He and the driver fought for more than 20 minutes before troubleshooting. In the end, 10 chariots interspersed in the team were sentenced to "lost" due to "ischemia" and delaying the fighter.

Zhang Junkai believes that the driver galloping on the battlefield is certainly mighty, but an excellent repairman is the guardian of the life of the cavalry.

At the beginning of his career as a repairman, Zhang Junkai went to the repair shop to "out of tolerance" and lay hands when he had time, and asked his comrades in the repair team to introduce him to the structure and working principle of the vehicle. In the second year, he was admitted to the Beijing Machinery Noncommissioned Officer School for professional study.

"Every time I hand over the faulty vehicle to the driver, I feel a happy feeling in my heart. I feel that I am an indispensable person in the army." Zhang Junkai said.

  Good doctor in military vehicle

Zhang Junkai doesn't have many hobbies. The only two hobbies of visiting auto supply stores and collecting auto repair tools are related to repairs. Some old tools are damaged, and he always receives them in his "treasure box".

The focus on auto repair and the accumulation of long-term experience have enabled Zhang Junkai to develop a set of troubleshooting skills of "listening to the sound, touching the temperature, and smelling the smell".

Zhang Junkai only has a junior high school education. It is a bit difficult to understand the size of a car, thousands of parts and components, and to understand the complex structural principles.

In order to become a craftsman quickly, Zhang Junkai followed his master's car before and after the car during the day. In the evening, he held the textbook to study the cause of the failure, learn a principle, and compare the components; if he masters a skill, he will make a summary. Ten books, more than 250,000 words in the notes, and finally mastered more than 10 skills such as pliers riveting, sheet metal painting, drawing processing, etc.

Last year's National Day military parade was the penultimate joint training session. At this time, a vehicle of Zhang Junkai's team could not drive normally. At this time, it was less than 10 minutes before the joint training started.

Zhang Junkai and the representative of the engineer dispatched by the auto manufacturer went there to check the condition of the vehicle. The manufacturer thought that the car could not participate in the joint training, and the scene was suddenly silent.

"It may be caused by the large temperature difference between day and night, and the thermal expansion and contraction of the leather bowl caused the parts to be not tightly sealed. Try tightening the screws." Before the manufacturer representative retorted, Zhang Junkai picked up two wrenches and leaned into the bottom of the car, exhorting The driver kept stepping on the brake pedal while tightening the screws along the brake chamber shell, and the fault was eliminated.

Both a "car repairer" and a "teacher"

Thinking of the day when he was discharged from the army, Zhang Junkai said that he must find ways to pass knowledge to the newcomers and keep the skills in the army.

Gradually, Zhang Junkai, the "car repairer", gained the identity of a "teacher". A small whiteboard, a marker, and a three-foot table became the "small three pieces" of his maintenance class.

In November 2008, the unit participated in a real-force drill. When the convoy reached a pass, a fuel tanker suddenly stalled. The driver was busy for a long time, unable to find out the crux, the commander hurriedly dialed Zhang Junkai's number.

"Start the vehicle... the phone is placed close to the engine... yes, it must be a clogged filter element and insufficient fuel supply." On the other end of the phone, Zhang Junkai performed an online auscultation for the engine and determined the fault. Under Zhang Junkai's "cloud guidance", the Piawo transporter was brought back to life in 5 minutes.

In early 2019, on the eve of the National Day military parade, Zhang Junkai used labels, cards, and marking lines to mark every part of the field station trolley that was more than ten meters long, weighed tens of tons, and had hundreds of thousands of parts and components that needed verification: Red, yellow gas road signs, green oil road signs.... . What are the precautions for the inspection site? Warning signs? Quick troubleshooting measures? Zhang Junkai wrote in a notebook, printed it into a sticker card, and stuck it on the car body to the nearest centimeter.

Two days and one night, more than 200 full-body quantitative inspection systems marked by tags and cards appeared in the parade village. With the relevant inspection standards set by him, ordinary technicians can also perform the most detailed inspection of the equipment.

Over the years, Zhang Junkai has successively taught more than 1,000 soldiers and trainees and trained more than 100 backbones in the auto repair business. (Finish)
