The Girondins de Bordeaux, who were hoping for a prefectural exemption to increase to 10,000 spectators for the resumption of L1 against Nantes, saw their request rejected by the Gironde prefecture, they announced in a statement on Saturday.

"On the occasion of the Nantes reception on Saturday August 22 at 5:00 p.m., the Matmut Atlantique gauge remains at 5,000 spectators. Given the evolution of the health situation, the request for exemption allowing to go beyond the regulatory gauge of 5,000 people could not be obtained for this match, "said the club.

"The gauge will be 5,000 people, in accordance with the decree of July 10," said the Prefecture of Gironde. “This is a test match. You have to learn to live with the virus. The prefecture wants an exemplary first match on health aspects with this authorized 5,000 gauge. It will test the health system set up in the country. occasion of this first match with the public at Matmut Atlantique ".

An identical decision was taken on Friday by the Loire-Atlantique prefecture concerning the Nantes-Nîmes match, scheduled for the second day on August 30 and which will also be limited to 5,000 spectators. For the time being, no exemption request to exceed this gauge has been accepted for the 1st day, while Nice has already announced that it will organize the reception of Lens behind closed doors next Sunday.
