Berlin (AP) - Former Berlin State Secretary for Culture Tim Renner wants to run for the SPD in Neukölln in the Bundestag election next year.
Former district mayor and current family minister Franziska Giffey and district chairman Severin Fischer had asked him for the candidacy, wrote Renner on his Facebook page. "You would like to campaign with me and fight for Neukölln interests together." In the post, Renner admits that he is not yet a real Neukölln, but that Neukölln is about the future of the city of Berlin.
Renner was last discussed as the top candidate of the Berlin SPD before the European elections in 2019, but nothing came of it. In the 2017 federal election, the native of Hamburg narrowly missed entry into parliament as a candidate for Charlottenburg-Wilmersdorf.
