On Saturday, the Commander of the Lebanese Armed Forces, General Joseph Aoun, received in his office in Yarzeh the Qatari ambassador to Lebanon, Muhammad Hassan Jaber Al-Jaber, at the head of a delegation from the embassy, in addition to the head of the Qatari search and rescue team and officers from the Qatari army delegation that followed the mission of sending and installing field hospitals.

During the meeting, the Qatari ambassador conveyed his government's condolences to Lebanon and its people, wishing a speedy recovery to the injured, and affirming his country's permanent standing by Lebanon.

The Army Commander thanked the State of Qatar for its haste to support Lebanon after the disaster that befell it, and for standing by it and sending search and rescue teams and two field hospitals.

For his part, the Qatari rescue team presented a summary of the outcome of the tasks it carried out, and informed General Aoun the end of his mission, thanking him for all the support and coordination that he received from the military units during the search and rescue operations.

After the Beirut bombing, the Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, made a phone call with the Lebanese President, Michel Aoun, and directed to send field hospitals to Lebanon immediately.

The Emir of the State of Qatar also announced before the donors conference in Paris his country's contribution of 50 million dollars to help Lebanon.

This comes as several charities in Qatar launched a relief campaign entitled "Lebanon in our hearts", in solidarity with the victims of the Beirut bombing.

The campaign aims to collect what the Qatari community provides to the Lebanese and turn it into relief materials covering the areas of health, shelter, food security, other non-food items, and reconstruction.
