Accusing a young man who was robbed of assaulting a policeman

A policeman filed a lawsuit before the Criminal Court in Ras Al Khaimah against a young man of the nationality of an Arab country, accusing him of assaulting him while he was drunk, and pulling him from inside his vehicle while performing his job, after the accused asked him to intervene after he was assaulted and robbed by two people Nationality of an African country.

The victim explained, in his lawsuit newspaper, that he was sitting in the police vehicle, during the period of guard required of him, and a person who was in an abnormal condition came to him, knocked on the vehicle's windows, and informed him that two Africans assaulted him and stole 700 dirhams from him.

The victim indicated that the defendant asked to go with him to the police station to file a complaint, then he informed him that he was a guard policeman, and asked him to go to the police station himself to file a report, or to contact the operations room to help him.

He added, "The accused called the operating room and gave me the phone from the glass, part of which was open, and I informed the operations that a person says that he was attacked and stolen."

He continued, "The accused tried to open the vehicle door, so I opened the door, which led to pushing him away from the vehicle and closing it again. The accused entered his hand through the window opening and pulled me and pushed me by the neck."

For his part, the accused denied the charges against him, and said

I went to the police station to file a report and found a patrol in front of the station, and I spoke with the policeman inside to help me file a report.

He explained that the policeman opened the door, which prompted me as a result of my standing near the door, as he gave me the operating room number, and asked me to call them to file a report.

The Public Prosecution ordered the defendant to be referred to the criminal court, and to be punished according to the record and description for the charge of assaulting, withdrawing and paying the victim because he was a member of the security services, while performing his job, and for consuming alcoholic drinks.

The defendant's lawyer, Hanan Al-Bayadh, submitted a defense memorandum, in which she demanded that her client be innocent of the charges against him.

She added that what is proven in the investigations is that the video, which was removed from the place, did not indicate that the accused committed the incident that the victim depicted in the case papers of his assault.

The court set the next session as the date to deliver the verdict in the case.
