Second-placed Lewis Hamilton was 0.039 seconds behind his teammate on Barcelona’s familiar track.

Max Verstappen, who won the previous race at Silverstone, was third in the Red Bull car, but lost to Bottas by almost a second (+0.939).

The next places went to Ferrari duo Charles Leclerc (+1.185) and Sebastian Vettel (+1.196) before Haas Romain Grosjean (+1.506). The entire top spruce drove its fastest lap times on soft tires.

Kimi Räikkönen finished 16th on the results list of the opening exercises (+2,196). Teammate Antonio Giovinazzi was six hundredths of a second better in the 15th.

Another Williams was driven by Roy Nissany, the team’s Israeli test driver. He was the slowest as expected, but lost to the team’s regular race driver Nicholas Latif, however, by just 0.3 seconds.
