The case has a direct connection to the Stockholm area. Namely, it was the police in Stockholm who from the beginning looked for a third party, a courier who in May went to Karlstad to hand over a large delivery of drugs.

That delivery was closely monitored by the police during the span.

- The journey ended with an address in Karlstad where they must have seen a guy come out. The police then continued to search at that address and four days later they struck, says prosecutor Stefan Wessberg.

In the attack on the man who received the delivery, a paper bag containing around 5.6 kilos of amphetamine was found. In one of the compartments on a backpack in the same home, the police found over 1,000 tablets of the drug MDMA.

"Unusually much"

- It is unusually much, but it is nothing compared to what has been seized in Stockholm, says Stefan Wessberg and explains that the courier is also in custody in Stockholm.

In connection with the attack, another man could also be arrested at another location in Karlstad carrying almost 100 grams of amphetamine.

Both men were arrested and detained on May 7 and arrested on May 10. The man who was arrested outside the home with the small amount of amphetamine was released from custody in June while the other is still in custody.

Risks long prison sentence

On Friday, the two men were charged - one on suspicion of drug offenses, minor drug offenses and drunk driving and risk up to 7 months in prison. He admits the crimes.

The man who is still in custody is charged with a serious drug offense and doping offense and thus risks up to five years in prison. He denies the crime but admits to possessing a small amount of cannabis that the police found on him at the time of his arrest.

Several DNA hits

According to the prosecutor, the state of evidence in the case is favorable.

- We have received many DNA hits on what has been seized. We are still waiting for a comparative analysis to come before the trial, but it does not really matter, I would say, says Stefan Wessberg.

The trial is ongoing for two days, starting on August 25.
