“Taking into account what is happening in the country and the need to take urgent measures to restore the rule of law in Belarus, I, Svetlana Tikhanovskaya, initiate the creation of a Coordination Council to ensure the transfer of power,” RIA Novosti quoted her as saying.

She noted the readiness for dialogue with the current authorities of Belarus.

Tikhanovskaya said she instructs her confidant Olga Kovalkova and lawyer Maxim Znak to accept applications for the nomination of council members from organizations and associations of citizens.

Earlier, the headquarters of Tikhanovskaya did not recognize the election results announced by the CEC of Belarus. According to the CEC, the incumbent head of state won over 80% of the vote.
