For every mild winter, the number of wild boars in Sweden increases and the number of wild boars is now estimated to have passed 300,000. In the 90s, about 300 wild boars were shot compared to today, so about 120,000 wild boars are shot every year. But consumption is limited and the Swedish Environmental Protection Agency wants to see several changes, such as lighter rules for the sale and serving of meat by public actors.

- Wild boar meat is about attitudes, behaviors and the interest of the public, but in the public space, the authorities can go in and push for this to be sold more, says Marcus Öhman at the Swedish Environmental Protection Agency.
