More and more healthcare facilities within the Östergötland Region are using digital meetings. Psychotherapy via video calls is an example where it has worked well, the region writes in a press release.

Fewer cancellations

- It has worked very well the first time. We can meet even if the patient has a cold so he does not have to cancel and it is also beneficial for many who have difficulty getting to the health center, says Pia Ek, who is a psychotherapist at the health center Marieberg in Motala.

Fewer cancellations, less administration and greater flexibility are some positive effects.

SVT Nyheter Öst has previously spoken with Preben Bendtsen who is head of department, professor at Linköping University and who researches in the area of healthy lifestyles through internet-based and SMS-based tools.

Bendtsen himself has investigated how patients experience communication with care via their computer or mobile phone. The reactions are positive and negative, but overall he feels that they are positive experiences.
