After a minute of silence at 11:36 am the harbor sirens sounded and all the churches sounded the death knell. The ceremony took place at the foot of the new bridge, on the Place de la Mémoire adorned with 43 different trees and where we saw scrolling on a screen the photos of the victims with their name and age.

A need for justice

Accompanied by the local authorities, the head of government Giuseppe Conte launched this message: "  We pledge not to leave Genoa alone and we will continue to support the demand for truth  ".

This message echoed that of the spokesperson for the families of the victims, Egle Posseti: “  We have heard deeply arrogant statements from those who have managed this infrastructure. We will never tire of asking for memory, respect and justice.  "

The legal inquiries targeting 73 people, including managers of the Autostrade per l'Italia company of the Benetton family, responsible for the maintenance of the Morandi bridge, will be completed in 2021. At the current stage, the only certainty is that the Benetton company has multiplied the negligence in terms of safety.
