- Some of the problems - because there will be problems - will arise gradually and then we must try to solve it in the best way as soon as possible. If possible by deploying more buses, says Thomas Nilsson, traffic director in the Kronoberg region.

Drive past if the bus is full

Exactly how many passengers are allowed to travel in a bus for it to be considered crowded cannot be said, according to Thomas Nilsson. But a bus driver can drive past the bus stop if he feels that the bus is full.

- Then we drive past and then the passengers can call the traffic management. And as far as we can, we put in an extra bus. Otherwise you have to wait for the next bus, says Thomas Nilsson.

The bus drivers spray seats

The cleaning of common roof surfaces is another crucial issue to limit the spread of infection. An example of a common roof area in the buses is the stop buttons that are used to stop the buses. Over a whole day, several travelers can touch one and the same stop button - something that can mean that infection is spread between travelers.

The cleaning of the buses is the responsibility of the contractors that the region hires to run in public transport. The contractors' bus drivers have previously gone round the bus when they had time to pick up rubbish.

- I suspect that the bus drivers still do it, but that they also spray handrails and seats where possible, says Thomas Nilsson.
