Los Angeles / New York (AP) - With reference to the MTV Video Music Awards on August 30, Lady Gaga (34) told her fans on Twitter that she had dreamed of her album “Chromatica” at home and that it was finally time for the first live performance.

The singer posted a short video of herself in a pink bathrobe with a huge headdress mask.

She had released her sixth album “Chromatica” at the end of May in the middle of the corona pandemic. According to «People.com», Lady Gaga was last on stage in 2013 at the Video Music Awards.

Artists and groups such as The Weeknd, Maluma, BTS and Doja Cat will also perform at the gala, the broadcaster MTV recently announced. Because of the corona pandemic, the award ceremony will take place outdoors instead of in a hall. Several outdoor performances are planned in different parts of New York either with no live audience or with limited audience numbers. MTV wants to broadcast the show hosted by actress Keke Palmer live.

Lady Gaga and Ariana Grande enter the race as top favorites with nine nominations each. Billie Eilish and The Weeknd each have six chances to win. All four top contenders are represented in the top category "Video of the Year". In addition, Eminem, Future and Taylor Swift compete there. The MTV prizes have been awarded since 1984. Fans can vote for their favorites online.
