Regional and international reactions to the normalization agreement between the UAE and Israel, which US President Donald Trump announced yesterday, were welcomed by Western countries and criticized by Turkey and Iran.

Iran described the agreement as a "dangerous and illegal step." A statement by the Iranian Foreign Ministry said that Abu Dhabi's normalization of its relations with Israel is a strategic mistake, and will only lead to strengthening the axis of resistance.

The statement described what Abu Dhabi had done as a "shameful and dangerous act," warning against any interference by Israel in the affairs of the region.

The Iranian Foreign Ministry's statement added that the Arab Emirates stabbed the Palestinians in the back, and that it bears all the repercussions of its normalization with Israel, according to the statement.

History will not be forgiven For
its part, the Turkish Foreign Ministry said today, Friday, that the history and conscience of the peoples of the region will not be forgotten and the "hypocritical behavior" of the United Arab Emirates in concluding an agreement with Israel will not be forgiven.

The ministry stated - in a written statement - that the Palestinian people and the Palestinian administration are right to show a strong reaction to the agreement, which will lead to the full normalization of diplomatic relations between the UAE and Israel.

The agreement was met with widespread Palestinian condemnation from prominent factions, such as "Hamas", "Fatah" and "Islamic Jihad", which agreed - in separate statements - to consider it a "stab" in the side of the Palestinian people, their struggle and sacrifices, and a "weakening" of their position.

While the Palestinian leadership considered him a "betrayal by the Emirates of Jerusalem, Al-Aqsa and the Palestinian cause," while Egypt and Bahrain welcomed him.

On the other hand, British Prime Minister Boris Johnson praised the decision of the UAE and Israel to normalize relations, and said that what happened was "very good news."

A spokesman for the Secretary-General of the United Nations, Antonio Guterres, said today that the latter welcomes "any initiative that could promote peace and security in the Middle East region."

The UAE Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Anwar Gargash said today, Friday, that the reactions from the most important world capitals to the UAE agreement with Israel are "encouraging".

Gargash said in a tweet that the agreement "addressed, in the assessment of these capitals, the danger of annexing the Palestinian territories to the chances of a two-state solution."
