Johan Persson is not worried that what happened in Beirut could happen here.

- Already in the 1850s, they began to import fertilizers for the first time. That handling has existed at Tjärhovet for many decades, says Johan Persson.

Linnaeus University was built near the harbor, despite the fact that it was pointed out that there were risks with having a harbor as a neighbor.

- It is as close to the university as to Kvarnholmen and Kalmar has an industrial port. The assessment made then was that the risks are minimal.

He fully understands that there is a concern.

- I understand that people get worried when they see the pictures from Beirut. Therefore, it is good that it is sorted out how the handling is done and what requirements are set in Sweden. We have a safe and secure handling.

He emphasizes that very careful checks are made, both by the fire brigade and by the county administrative board.

- We must trust the authorities who monitor this and we have strong legislation in Sweden.
