The most beautiful new era revolutionary soldier
  "builds a nest" for missiles

In the past 18 years in the army, Shaojia, commander of a certain engineering brigade of the Rocket Army, has spent most of his time dealing with stones, steel and explosives.

Shaojia is a missile engineer who has successively undertaken a number of key defense engineering construction tasks. Deep in the dark and wet rock formations, he and his comrades endured dust and noise, guarded against the danger of landslides, and built safe and hidden positions for the missiles.

"Many people know the moment when the missile ignited and lifted off, but they don't know where the missile'lives'." He defined himself as a builder who "built a nest" for missiles, hovering in the mountains and supporting the country behind the scenes. Take off.

From the outside world, the missile engineer is quite mysterious, but the hardship is beyond imagination. Shaojia is tall, dark-skinned and hoarse. But when he joined the army in 2002, his voice was not as "vicissitudes" as it is now.

His first job was to drill blastholes on the rock wall with a pneumatic drill, which was the most primitive and basic work of the engineering unit. When the air drill was working, the dust was so full that he "only saw what was in my hands." Although wearing a dust mask, the nostrils were filled with dust throughout the day, my throat often became inflamed, and his voice became thicker.

For more than ten years, Shaojia has done almost every job in the field construction. When spraying, the mud hits the rock wall and bounces back on the body. After solidification, "like a terracotta warrior." When he was rehabilitated, the temperature in the small space reached more than 50 degrees Celsius. He went into battle shirtless, almost lying on the steel bars and shaking the concrete with a tamping rod.

In 2007, Shaojia's mother, Luo Zi, went to visit relatives in the work area. After arriving at the barracks, she just caught up with her son for the night shift. "The whole body is gray, only the teeth are white." Luo Zi immediately red eyes. In the past, Shaojia often sent money to support the family, but since that time, she has never received a penny from her son.

The cold construction site is not only bad, but also contains unknown risks. In 2004, during an emergency demoulding mission, a steel formwork weighing 50 to 60 kilograms suddenly fell down and hit the sand on the right foot. It hurt. He slowly sat down to check the injury, and found that there was no obvious trauma, and then he breathed a sigh of relief, gritted his teeth and continued to persist on the construction site.

Half a month later, he didn't realize that the problem was serious until the toes became inflamed and ulcerated. Go to the resident hospital for an examination, "3 toes fractured", because the delay was too long and almost amputated. The hospital adopted a conservative treatment plan: release the congestion on the feet, remove the carrion between the bones, and stuff them with alcohol gauze for disinfection.

Every time the dressing was changed, the 18-year-old Shaozai suffered tremendous pain, "either biting a pillow or biting a stick", and he recovered after repeated two months. When he returned to work, the title of "Iron Man" had long since disappeared.

In addition to physical pain, Shaojia also experienced growing pains. As a Yi youth who came out of the Daliang Mountain, he could not speak Mandarin when he first joined the army, and it was difficult to integrate into the collective life, and he became more and more withdrawn.

Once, the instructor Ye Guoying asked him to give the monitor: pour the construction materials to another work surface before leaving work. Although she understood the content of the task, Shaojia did not know how to convey it to the squad leader. He just worked on his own for a day and moved dozens of square steels weighing more than 50 kilograms to the designated position, leaving his shoulders torn to blood.

After learning about the situation, Ye Guoying both felt distressed and blamed himself. He bought dictionaries and opened courses for several Yi fighters in the company. His comrades also often led them to chat about their affairs. Six months later, Shaojia and several fellow villagers finally cleared the communication barriers.

"This experience gave me confidence." He was grateful to the company, "People who have experienced the cold know the warmth of the sun best, so I must do something different!"

After crossing the language barrier, Shazi's next goal is to join the party. He always remembered that on the day he joined the army, the folks who lived in the mountains walked dozens of kilometers to the train station to see him off.

"The Communist Party of China is very sacred." Shaojia grew up listening to the story of Yihai's alliance. His mother was also a party member. In his mind, "only Communists can make all impossible possible."

With this belief, he worked hard on the battlefield, "take two bites at random when you are hungry, and take a nap on the rock when you are tired." During a high altitude operation task, he carried a 15 kg oxygen cylinder and used a pneumatic drill for more than 10 hours. Finally, he was in a coma due to lack of oxygen.

At the groundbreaking ceremony that was held later, because of his outstanding performance, Shaojia was approved to join the party. That day, he was so excited that he "walks lightly", and after the ceremony, he hid in the warehouse and cried all night.

Relying on this tenacity, Shazi sipped and ran forward. Over the past decade or so, he has grown from a poor child in the Great Liangshan Mountain to become an officer of the strategic service.

"We admire Shaojia as the chief officer of a brother unit, but there is a lot of pressure to compete with such a person." Deputy Camp Officer Kong Lingxin said with a smile. In his impression, many of the difficult areas where the neck was stuck during the construction were captured by the officers and soldiers led by Shaqia.

During a national defense construction mission, the sand sip of the then deputy battalion commander encountered a rare rock fragmentation zone, and huge rubble continued to fall from the top of the rock. He took the lead, led the officers and soldiers to reinforce the danger, fight steadily, and finally gnawed down this "hard bone".

"I'm the one who stands up as the flag." Zhang Jie, the brigade commander, commented on Shazi: "We are very relieved to put him in the work area."

After serving as the chief officer, Shaojia paid great attention to the safety of officers and soldiers, and veteran Wang Shengdong was deeply impressed by his safety awareness. During a construction in 2017, Shaojia suddenly asked him if he heard the sound of dripping water. After repeated confirmations, Wang Shengdong gave a negative answer.

But the sand was not at ease, and I checked back and forth on the work surface, and finally found that a corner of the angle seeps out of muddy water, which is a precursor to a collapse.

"Quick retreat! Quick retreat!" He kept yelling, and the commanders and equipment retreated. As soon as he evacuated to a safe zone, he heard a loud noise, and stones, mud and water instantly filled the work surface.

In 2018, Shazixia was elected as a representative of the 13th National People's Congress. She put forward suggestions such as appraising martyrs for the sacrifice of officers and soldiers for the construction of national defense projects, which won the warm support of grassroots officers and soldiers. "He is a true knowledge soldier, true love soldier." said Jiang Gangbiao, political commissar of the brigade.

For more than ten years during the Southern and Northern Wars, Shazi Gai grew up in the barracks as a unique "pilot of the mountain". He also brought out a stubble of backbones and established a reputation for being a soldier and being a soldier. "Shasha Gai embodies the fine traditions and virtues of missile engineers." Zhang Jie said.
