On August 13, 2020, the Intermediate People’s Court of Shijiazhuang City, Hebei Province opened a trial of the former party secretary of the People’s Procuratorate of Jilin Province and the chief prosecutor Yang Keqin’s bribery case. The People’s Procuratorate of Shijiazhuang City, Hebei Province sent officers to support the public prosecution. Hacken and his defenders appeared in court to participate in the proceedings.

  Shijiazhuang City People’s Procuratorate alleges: From 2011 to 2019, defendant Yang Keqin successively used positions as director of the Institute of Political Science and Law of the Central Political and Legal Commission, deputy director of the Office of the Central Judicial System Reform Leading Group, Secretary of the Party Group of the People’s Procuratorate of Jilin Province, and chief prosecutor. The convenience or the conditions for the formation of authority and status provide assistance to relevant units and individuals in matters such as business operations, case handling and job adjustments, and illegally accept property from others directly or through their family members, which amounts to RMB 46,356,141. The defendant Yang Keqin is requested to be held criminally responsible for accepting bribes.

  During the trial, the procuratorial organ produced relevant evidence. The defendant Yang Keqin and his defender cross-examined the evidence. Both the prosecution and the defense fully expressed their opinions on the debate. Yang Keqin also made a final statement and pleaded guilty in court. In the end, the court announced an adjournment and an optional sentence.
