The fact that the care queues have grown in 2020 is noticeable at the patient board. Since the turn of the year, 89 patients have lodged complaints about the availability of care in the Västerbotten Region. It will be compared with eleven complaints during the corresponding period last year.

The complaints concern both that it is difficult to reach care and that the waiting times are long. 47 of the complaints came in January and February, before the corona outbreak, Christina Bygdén states.

Believes in backlogs in notifications

So far this year, 45 cases directly linked to the corona pandemic have been received by the patient board. Which is less than you might think.

- Spontaneously we thought we would get even more than we got. We think it may be a delay that more will come later, says Helena Blom, administrator at the patient committee.

The Patient Board is the body in healthcare where patients can turn with complaints. Complaints are forwarded to the clinics that will respond
