13 August 2020 17 tons of medicines and medical equipment were delivered this morning in Beirut. The aid arrived on a humanitarian flight from the European Union.

State of emergency for another two weeks
This morning the Lebanese Parliament approved a state of emergency for two weeks in Beirut after the explosion in the port on August 4, which in fact rekindled the anger of the population. The measure will give the military exceptional powers to contain protests. The army will be able to disperse public assemblies and ban gatherings deemed a threat to national security. The military will also be able to break into homes and arrest anyone carrying out "activities considered a threat to security".
