The security authorities in the Libyan city of Misurata said that investigations are still underway to identify the identities of the corpses of ISIS militants, which they had kept in refrigerators for 6 years.

The security services are keeping 720 corpses of members of the organization, half of them are Libyans, only 51 of them have been identified, of Arab and foreign nationalities.

Salah Al-Madham from the Department of Investigation and Investigations at the Ministry of Interior said, "There are bodies with clear features that have been taken, and then these pictures were shown to the ISIS prisoners, who in turn identified some of the names of these bodies."

Most of the bodies that were identified "come from countries bordering Libya, in the east and west of the country," without further information for political and security considerations.

The al-Bunyan al-Marsous fighters, most of whom were from the city of Misrata, had taken control of the city of Sirte in 2016, after battles with ISIS.

After a long wait, and for legal and humanitarian reasons, the Public Prosecution may proceed - as you say - to take a decision to bury the bodies of ISIS fighters, especially since the countries from which they came from refuse to receive their bodies.

On the other hand, the Libyan authorities said that the Corona pandemic prevented it from delivering 34 bodies of people of Ethiopian nationality who were killed by ISIS in Sirte.
