A homeless man died Thursday in Paris. He had been shot the day before during a police intervention during which he seriously injured three police officers, we learned from corroborating sources.

The day before, police were called for a naked man on the track in the 13th arrondissement near the Parc de Choisy, according to a police source and a source close to the investigation. Arrived on the spot, the three officials note that the exhibitionist, a homeless man, took refuge in an EDF room. They try to get him out.

The man then throws himself on the team of police armed with a flat iron bar. He first wounds in the face a first policeman to whom he also partially cuts his finger, according to the source close to the investigation. A second policeman is hit on the head with "possible cranial fractures", according to the same source. The third then uses his firearm, three or four times, and wounds the assailant in the chest, abdomen and wrist. The Samu took charge of the injured police officers and the assailant. The latter died Thursday morning.

An open investigation

An investigation was opened for attempted voluntary homicide on a person holding public authority and entrusted to the third district of the judicial police (3rd DPJ), told AFP the prosecution.
