A 9-year-old child capsized on Wednesday while he was taking a sailing course in Gatteville-Phare (Manche). The incident occurred around noon while the boy was aboard a small dinghy, reports La Presse de la Manche .

The child, who fell into the water, was quickly rescued. His instructor, who was nearby, jumped into the water and pulled him back onto his boat to provide first aid.

The child just swallowed water

Alerted, the mobile emergency service firefighters took charge of the young victim on the spot. The latter had swallowed water during the incident. The boy was first taken to Cherbourg hospital and examinations were carried out, in particular to check whether water had entered his lungs.

Fortunately, the young sailing intern is out of danger. He was then moved to the Caen University Hospital, which has a pediatric service adapted to his age. Its capsizing is probably the consequence of a wrong maneuver.
