The decision is made by National Police Chief Anders Thornberg as a result of Carin Götblad's, along with several other heads of authorities, appointments now expiring at the turn of the year.

- Now we are renewing and strengthening the leadership of the Swedish police to be even better equipped to fight serious crime. The changes in the Police Authority's management team ensure the long-term perspective in the work of making Sweden safe and secure, comments National Police Chief Anders Thornberg on the police's website.

Carin Götblad will be succeeded by regional police chief in the Stockholm region Ulf Johansson.

Carin Götblad has been the regional police chief in POlisregion Mitt since 2015 and came from the then position as county police chief on Gotland. During her time in Uppsala, she has focused a lot of work on curbing crimes against children, young people and women. For the past two decades, she has been part of the Police Authority's management.

According to the police authority, she is moving on to new assignments within the police.
