Since the end of July, there have been four shootings in Gästrikland. One shooting in Hofors on 10 August and three shootings in Gävle, 23 July in Öster, 5 August in the Northeast and 8 August in Andersberg. In Gävleborg County, there have been about 15-20 shootings so far this year.

- We have seen an increase in shootings this year compared to previous years in the criminal environment. We work intensively with shootings in the Gävleborg police area and use the resources we have in the police area. Our work is the same as what took place during the Rimfrost operation, which was a national special event earlier this year in the Central region, says Lars Jansson, Acting Chief of Police for Gävleborg County.

Acts quickly on tips

In a press release, the police write that they have a good picture of the criminal environment and that the judiciary is doing everything to disrupt their activities. Among other things, the police work quickly to act on tips on possession of weapons and to seize weapons.

- As soon as we become aware that firearms are out in the criminal environment, we do everything to access them. It is important that the search for weapons takes place as soon as we become aware of it, says Lars Jansson.

The police will in the near future increase their presence in Sätra and Andersberg. This weekend, they are on site in Andersberg's center from 11 to 16. During that time, the public can come and leave tips.
