SAM Organization for Rights and Freedoms said that the Saudi authorities are detaining hundreds of Yemenis in an Air Force prison in Jizan, in the south of the Kingdom.

It indicated that many of them are subjected to systematic torture and ill-treatment, and confirmed the death of at least one detainee due to torture.

The head of the organization said that among the detainees, more than 500 recruits were fighting in the southern borders of Saudi Arabia against the Houthis, and among them 28 were arrested due to their demand for leave during the last Eid al-Fitr.

He added that there are fishermen among the detainees who were arrested by the Yemeni Coast Guard for unknown reasons, and handed over to the Saudi forces.

The organization called for the immediate release of all detainees or their handover to the Yemeni judicial institutions, calling for an investigation into the disappearance of many Yemenis in Saudi prisons during the last period.
