“The office of the Prosecutor General of Ukraine has applied to the General Prosecutor's Office of the Republic of Belarus with requests for the extradition of 28 people detained on July 29, 2020 by the law enforcement agencies of Belarus,” reads the message on Facebook.

They said that "all 28 persons, including 9 citizens of Ukraine", are suspected of "participation in a terrorist organization."

According to the version of the Ukrainian investigation, these persons took "an active part in hostilities on the territory of Donetsk and Luhansk regions."

"The issue of extradition of the requested persons will be decided by the competent authorities of Belarus," added the Prosecutor General's Office of Ukraine.

Earlier, the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova, called the detention of 33 Russians in Belarus a provocation of a third country.

On July 29, it became known about the detention of 33 Russians in Belarus. Later, the Investigative Committee of Belarus said that the detainees were suspected of preparing riots. The Investigative Committee of Russia organized an investigation in connection with the detention of Russian citizens in Belarus.

Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko has said that Minsk will not hand over the detained Russians to anyone until the party requesting the extradition proves their guilt.
