The last Blockbuster store on the planet is giving diehards of nostalgia video rentals, a trip back in time by offering '90s-themed sleepovers.

An ad on Airbnb features the only resisting video rental store, based in Oregon (northwestern United States).

She promises, for only $ 4 a night, to transform the store into a living room "with sofa bed, ottomans and pillows to make you comfortable with the novelties of the 90s". Four places are available for three nights in September.

The store, located in Bend, is the last bastion of a chain that had 9,000 outlets around the world at its peak in the early 2000s.

But Blockbuster suffered a precipitous decline with the advent of streaming platforms such as Netflix.

The inhabitants of Bend, however, have remained faithful to the approach of picking up DVDs and VHS tapes via a vending machine that allows them to be returned a few days later.

The local brand has also become a popular tourist destination.

In recent years, a steady stream of nostalgic fans have come to pose for selfies outdoors, shop for kitschy candy, and admire movie memorabilia like Russell Crowe's jacket in "Les Miserables."

But with the pandemic choking tourism, the site has lost its "regular visits from friends, neighbors and tourists from around the world," the ad writes

"And remember," the ad says, "the store is yours for the night!" "So let go, blow up the boombox and wear your favorite '90s jeans to make you feel right at home in another era."

The ad promises to disinfect the store after these slumber nights.
