Injured when a train derailed in Scotland

A train derailed, on Wednesday morning, in north-eastern Scotland, in an area affected by floods, resulting in "serious injuries", according to Scottish Prime Minister Nicola Sturgeon.
"This is a very serious incident," Sturgeon wrote on Twitter, then indicated to the Scottish MPs that "initial information" had reported "serious injuries."

Large clouds of smoke rose from the scene of the accident, which took place in a mountainous area, to which ambulances and a helicopter rushed, according to pictures broadcast by the BBC, as it was not possible to see the train itself.
"We are currently dealing with an accident on the track to Stonehaven, Aberdeenshire, where a train derailed," British Transport Police wrote on Twitter in the morning.

The police added, "The police were called to the scene at 9:43 (0843 GMT) and they stayed there alongside the paramedics and firefighters," without giving further details of the possible victims.
Heavy rains and thunderstorms rained through the night of Tuesday to Wednesday in Scotland, causing flooding in the region and delays in rail traffic.
“Our teams worked all night to try to keep the network open, despite the torrential rain and lightning,” Scotland's Railroad Network wrote on Twitter in the morning. However, there are disturbances on several tracks. ”

Representative Andrew Boy, who was in Stonehaven on Wednesday morning, saw "damaged homes and stores" due to the weather, according to a tweet on Twitter.
"But the situation could have become much worse had it not been for the rapid work of the population and the emergency services," he added on the social networking site. Fortunately, the water is receding rapidly. ”
Last week, a spike in the number of new coronavirus infections was recorded in Aberdeen, the main city in the region, leading to tighter containment measures in place with bars and restaurants closed and movement restrictions imposed.
