The Israeli warplanes targeted several military sites of the Palestinian resistance in the Gaza Strip, early this morning, Wednesday, without causing injuries.

A spokesman for the occupation army said that the raids were in response to the launching of incendiary balloons from the Gaza Strip towards Israeli towns.

The planes bombed a site in an area south of Gaza City, along with an empty land, and a site east of Rafah, in the south of the Strip.

Israeli artillery also targeted a monitoring point belonging to one of the Palestinian factions in Deir Al-Balah in the central Gaza Strip, and fired machine-gun fire towards another point east of the Central Governorate.

The Israeli bombing came hours after Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his Defense Minister Benny Gantz threatened to respond forcefully to Palestinian militants' launching of batches of balloons carrying incendiary materials towards settlements adjacent to the Strip, leaving 60 fires.

Yesterday, the occupation authorities closed the Kerem Shalom crossing, which is the only commercial crossing with the Gaza Strip, allegedly in response to the launching of incendiary balloons from the Strip towards Jewish settlements.

The Coordination Unit for the Israeli Government’s Activities in the Palestinian Territories said in a statement that the Kerem Shalom crossing, through which goods pass into Gaza, “will be closed to the passage of all goods, except for basic humanitarian aid and fuel.”

The statement accused the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) of being "responsible" for these launches, given its control over the Gaza Strip.
