According to Tamashunienė, Lithuania has prepared an action plan "in case of an increase in the number of citizens of Belarus applying for asylum in Lithuania."

“Individuals who will apply for asylum and apply for refugee status will be granted such asylum in our country,” she said.

Also, the head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs said that representatives of the opposition of Belarus "are not looking for asylum in Lithuania for the first time."

“If this happens this time for political reasons or possible threats, we are ready to help them until conditions are created for a safe return home,” the minister said.

Earlier, Lithuania issued a visa for a year to the candidate for the presidency of Belarus Svetlana Tikhanovskaya who arrived in the country.
