Agents of the Special Group of Underwater Activities (GEAS) of the Civil Guard have found this Tuesday at a depth of 92 meters the body of the diver and documentarian Fernando Garfella, who did not emerge on Sunday from a dive in Cala Estellencs , the armed institute has reported.
Once the body was extracted from the bottom, it has been transferred to the Port of Sóller , where the removal of the body took place at around 7.30 p.m., the Civil Guard has detailed.
Divers from the Madrid GEAS reinforced the Balearic tracking team this Monday. The divers searched for hours on Sunday and also this Monday for the diver, descending to a depth of 50 meters in their search but did not locate the body, which was deeper.
Another diver was seriously injured Sunday while trying to rescue Garfella. Salvamento Marítimo took him by helicopter to Sant Elm , and then by ambulance to the Juaneda de Palma clinic, where he entered the hyperbaric chamber, having suffered a decompression accident. He remains hospitalized, with a reserved prognosis.
