It was in March this year that a report of misconduct and harassment was made after the police officer, according to the report, had "inappropriate contact" with a female informant. That the communication was actually inappropriate is evident from a number of saved text messages. In addition, information emerged that the policeman was guarding outside the woman's home.

The information came to the police via a relative of the woman. The woman had asked for advice on how she could best end the contact. She herself did not want to take part in any investigation.

"Not acted as one would expect"

Less than a month later, therefore, the special prosecutor's office closed the preliminary investigation. Ten days later, the Group for Arbitration and Disciplinary Matters at the police authority in Region West decided to initiate an employment law investigation anyway. Here, too, the woman did not want to participate, other than in an initial conversation.

But the text message remained, and the police authority now wants the man to receive a disciplinary sanction in the form of a warning. The motivation states that the police officer "through his behavior did not (...) behave and act as one might expect from an employee of the Police Authority." It is also pointed out that the matter can constitute a security risk for the police officer, the woman and the business.
